An ottoman bed is the most storage you'll ever get out of a single piece of bedroom furniture. Lift the mattress on its gas struts and the entire base opens up underneath no drawers to pull out, no wasted corners, just the full footprint of the bed ready to swallow whatever your wardrobe can't. We handcraft all 41 designs in this collection here in the UK, from £249.99, with free delivery nationwide and a 3-year warranty.
Sizes run from Single through to Super King, and you choose your fabric and headboard height, from the standard 54 inches right up to a full 95 inches.
Why an Ottoman Beats Drawers
Plenty of beds offer storage. Very few offer this much of it.
The whole base, not part of it. Drawers only use the sections between the legs. An ottoman uses everything, corner to corner roughly double the capacity of a four-drawer base in the same size.
Deep enough for bulky things. Suitcases, a folded travel cot, spare duvets, boxes of paperwork. Things that simply won't fit in a shallow drawer.
No clearance needed at the sides. Drawers need around 60cm of clear floor to open. An ottoman lifts upwards, so it works in an alcove, tight against a wall, or in a room where furniture already crowds the bed.
Nothing on show. The lid is the mattress. Close it and the bed looks like any other upholstered bed.
If your bedroom's small, the maths is straightforward — you're getting a wardrobe's worth of space for no extra floor.
Every ottoman base in this collection runs on hydraulic gas struts. They're the part that decides whether you'll actually use the storage or resent it, so we don't cut corners there.
Properly rated struts do two things. They take the weight of the mattress for you, so lifting is a gentle pull rather than a heave — most people manage it one-handed. And they hold the base open steadily while you're rummaging, then lower it back down slowly rather than dropping shut.
A word from experience: mattress weight matters. A heavy pocket-sprung king puts far more load on the struts than a lightweight foam single. If you're pairing a deep, dense mattress with your base, mention it when you order and we'll make sure the struts are matched to it. It's a five-second conversation that saves a lot of frustration later.
Most of our bases lift from the foot end, which is the sensible choice when one side of the bed sits against a wall. Side-opening options are available on some designs — the product page will tell you, or just ring and ask.
Tall side panels that come forward past the headboard, framing the pillows and giving the bed real presence. The Bristol, Cleo, Joyce, Rome, Oslo, Stresa and Lynx all use this shape. They suit rooms with height to fill, and the wings block draughts off a cold external wall — handy in an older property.
If you'd rather the bed sat quietly in the room, the Kansas, Miami, Oaklyn, Victoria and Barcelona keep the lines low and clean. The Paris, Milan, Matera and Ragusa add panelling or buttoning without going over the top. And the Kristy Mirror ottoman divan bed does the opposite — mirrored detailing for anyone who wants the bed to be the thing people notice.
This is where a lot of customers make the difference between a bed that fits and a bed that looks made for the room. The standard 54-inch headboard suits most ceilings. Go up towards 95 inches and you get a proper feature wall behind the bed, which works beautifully in high-ceilinged Victorian rooms and looks completely wrong in a low-ceilinged box room. Measure from your floor to the ceiling before choosing, and if you're between two heights, ring us we'll tell you honestly which one suits.
Fabrics come in a range of velvets, weaves and linen-look textures. Order a swatch set first. Colour on a phone is never colour in your bedroom.
All 41 designs come in Single, Small Double (4ft), Double, King and Super King. The double ottoman bed is our biggest seller by some distance — 4ft6 of storage underneath is genuinely useful in the average British bedroom, and it's the size most people are replacing.
We manufacture here in Britain, at our workshop in West Yorkshire. Nothing is imported and re-badged.
Kiln-dried timber frames with reinforced corners, built to take repeated lifting
Rated gas struts fitted and tested before the bed leaves us
Hand-applied padding and fabric, with pile running the same way across base and headboard
A lined, boxed-out storage cavity rather than bare timber, so bedding stays clean
Slatted or solid tops depending on the design, giving even mattress support with no dipping
Every ottoman carries a 3-year warranty, and we're rated 4.6 out of 5 on Trustpilot by customers who've had ours delivered and lived with them.
You'll get the most out of one if:
Your bedroom has no built-in wardrobe, or the one you've got is already losing
You're in a flat, a terrace or a loft conversion where floor space is tight
Guest bedding, seasonal clothes and suitcases currently live on top of the wardrobe
The bed sits in an alcove or against a wall, so drawers wouldn't open properly
You want the storage hidden rather than announced
You're furnishing a spare room that has to earn its keep
Honestly, both are good — they just suit different habits. Drawers win for things you grab daily, because you're not lifting a mattress to reach a pair of socks. An ottoman wins on sheer volume and on rooms where side clearance is a problem. If you mostly need to store bulky things you touch a few times a year, the ottoman is the better buy.
There are plenty of ottoman beds for sale across the UK. Here's what's different here.
Made here, sold direct. No showroom overheads and no middleman, which is how a handmade British ottoman with a matching headboard starts at £249.99 rather than double that.
A real ottoman bed sale, not a permanent one. When we discount, we discount properly — and we'll tell you what the bed normally sells for.
Free delivery nationwide. Included in the price, with no postcode surcharge appearing at the last step.
Two-man, room-of-choice delivery. Your bed goes to the room you want it in, not left in the hallway. Assembly with full packaging removal is available as an optional extra.
Swatches before you commit. Order samples, hold them against your walls in daylight, then choose.
Klarna and Clearpay. Spread the cost interest-free if that suits your month better.
Real people on the phone. Monday to Friday, 10am to 6pm. Ask us about strut ratings, headboard heights or whether the Fargo works in a north-facing room. You'll get an honest answer.
Your ottoman arrives in sections with the mechanism already fitted, so there's no fiddling with struts on your bedroom floor. Base halves clip together, the headboard bolts on, and you're done — around 30 minutes with two people. If you'd rather not, add our assembly service and the crew will build it and take every scrap of packaging away.
Before ordering, measure your stairs, landing and doorway at the narrowest point. Ottoman bases split, which makes them far easier to get upstairs than a one-piece frame, but a quick check is always worth it. Send us your measurements if you'd like us to confirm.
Have a proper look through the ottoman beds above, filter by size and price, and order a swatch set if you're torn between fabrics. It's the simplest way to buy an ottoman storage bed online in the UK — free delivery, a 3-year warranty, and a British-made bed that'll still be lifting smoothly years from now.

No, these are bases with matching headboards. We make our own mattresses if you'd like everything in one delivery.
On a double, roughly the volume of a decent wardrobe. Duvets, pillows, suitcases, seasonal clothes and boxes all fit comfortably.
No. The struts carry the mattress weight, so most people lift it one-handed. Tell us your mattress type when ordering and we'll match the struts to it.
Most designs lift from the foot end, which suits beds against a wall. Some offer side-opening — check the product page or ask us.
